
Julie Ellen "Tawny," Kitaen was an American model and actress. She lived between May 7th, 2021 until August 5, 1961. Her acting career in television started with Malibu (1983) and California Girls (1985). Also, she starred in Gwendoline in the comedienne film the Land of the Yik-Yak (both 1984) as well as Bachelor Party (1985). Kitaen was well-known for her performance in the music videos of heavy metal like Ratt's "Back for More", Whitesnake "Still of the Night", and "Is This love" (all 1987). Kitaen also appeared on reality television shows including Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew (2008) and The Surreal Life (2006) that detailed Kitaen's struggles with substance abuse. Julie Kitaen was the youngest of three children, born in San Diego in 1961 to Linda Kitaen (nee Taylor) an actress, a former beauty pageant contestant, and Terry Kitaen who worked for an organization that made neon signs. [1][2] Kitaen's mother was of Scottish and Irish heritage, and her father was of Russian Jewish background. Kitaen was educated Jewish. She started using the nickname "Tawny" at the age of 12 and on her own initiative. [6] She was dyslexic as a young child. This caused her to leave Mission Bay High School. [7] At 14 years old, with backstage passes after the Peter Frampton concert at Balboa Stadium,[8] she witnessed the privileges offered to Frampton's wife Penny and aspired to achieve the same for herself.
